Anti-Inflammatories and why you should discontinue them forever.

Anti-inflammatories happen to be in the topmost prescribed medications on the market. They are commonly used to treat inflammation, fever, aches/pains, etc. However, you may not be aware of its overall effect on the body.

NSAIDs work against your body’s natural healing process by blocking the response associated with producing pain and inflammation. The way they work cuts off some valuable inflammatory pathways as well as the destructive ones. In order to heal an injury, the body needs to rebuild damaged connective tissue or collagen. NSAIDs block the good regenerative responses that actually are responsible for repairing a sprain of a joint ligament or tendon. Those people who see anti-inflammatories as their answer to post activity soreness are doing themselves a big disservice.   Some other risks to consider include but are not limited to the destruction of the lining of the upper intestinal tract, stroke, heart attack, and kidney failure.

Commonly known NSAIDs include but are not limited to Ibuprofen, Aleve, Aspirin, Meloxicam, Advil, Midol, and Motrin.

Most of you who are reading this are not prone to think of cortisone as the first go to when experiencing joint pain. But it’s important to know the facts about this conventional treatment for arthritic pain.

  • A new study finds that corticosteroid shots may accelerate arthritis in knee and hip joints, even as it removes the pain.
  • Osteoarthritis affects more than 30 million adults in the United States.
  • Corticosteroid shots are widely used to reduce inflammation and lessen pain in knee and hip joints.

In a new study in the journal Radiology, it was found that cortisone shots are probably more damaging in the long run than doing nothing or engaging in regenerative treatments or exercises. If your doctor tells you that you need a corticosteroid shot call your regenerative doctor at Maui Regenerative Medicine for helpful options that combat inflammation.

The new report identified several potential complications that may be associated with corticosteroid injections.

The new report identified several potential complications that may be associated with corticosteroid injections.

Have you ever wondered why so many people are getting joint replacements? Are there lifestyle factors, genetics or are the treatments that are routinely used for joint pain part of the cause? It has long been known that cortisone will erode and degenerate the college matrix in bone and cartilage. For some reason, this knowledge was not applied with respect to the treatments that many doctors will recommend for their patients.

The authors of the new report identified several potential complications that may be associated with corticosteroid injections. These complications may eventually cause joints to collapse, which requires joint replacement surgery to treat.

Before you go down the road of “steroid injection” please consult us and learn about the many sustainable options that will help keep your joints strong, pain-free, and prevent unnecessary surgery.

As most of us know, the pain signals we experience from trauma or normal wear and tear is transmitted via our nervous system. Most limb pain can be coming from nerve signals that help us slow down or stop what we are doing. Most people who feel pain in joints ligaments or tendons will have damage to those tissues and the nerve signals telling us that are helping to reduce the use of trauma to those tissues.

But what happens when the tendons, ligaments and joints are healthy or non-injured and we still have a limb or extremity pain?

In many cases our surface or peripheral nerves can be impinged or pinched at fascial openings where they emerge from.

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a good example of impingement of the median nerve as it passes through the fascial tunnel of the wrist. Tingling of the fingers, numbness, pain and reduced dexterity of the hand can be common symptoms of CTS.

One of the best ways to release that impingement is not surgery but nerve hydro dissection. By injecting diluted dextrose around the area of compression on the nerve sheath the pressure is released and the pain is generally permanently gone. This quick, generally painless injection procedure can heal many painful conditions.

This month I attended training in this method to add to our regenerative medical tool bag. If you have pain you don’t understand and feel it may be nerve-related give us a call to get an evaluation and Ultrasound scan to help identify the problem.

Do stem cells (MSC’s) have a role in the overall repair of the body on a day to day basis.

Do stem cells (MSC’s) have a role in the overall repair of the body on a day to day basis.

We are born with a set number of stem cells. As we age the number decreases and the repair of tissue from everyday wear and tear becomes less efficient. This is why we heal so fast and effectively when we are young and why it seems to take longer the older we get. One of MSC’s role in bodily repair is to extinguish inflammatory events. Research has proven that the more we support our own stem cells by introducing more stem cells to our circulation, we effectively can turn back our aging clock. Therefore the use of allograph cells like umbilical cord MSC’s can address some aging at its core. When used to treat a damaged tissue like cartilage it can truly turn back the clock of the aging of that damaged tissue. More to come…

Heal Traumatic Brain Injury With Bioidentical Hormones

Heal Traumatic Brain Injury With Bioidentical Hormones

This Life Extension article shows their is new hope for Brain Injury Victims. Researchers have found:

  • Mainstream therapies have been largely unable to alleviate the progressive symptoms of traumatic brain injury, which often occur years after the original trauma and can include devastating cognitive, emotional, and physical effects.
  • Recognizing that brain trauma triggers sex hormone deficiencies that can produce these worsening effects, some physicians are using an innovative sex hormone replacement technique that uses subcutaneous pellets to deliver bioidentical hormone replacement. Patients report rapid reversal of symptoms.
  • Also, at a time of exploding rates of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, accumulating evidence suggests that by replenishing diminished sex hormones, aging individuals can help inhibit these devastating brain-wasting diseases.
